Ride Prepared. Ride Together.
Open ocean riding requires preparation, awareness, and responsibility. Trails to Tides is built around safety-first group rides, rider checklists, and structured event participation.
Our Safety Standard
Trails to Tides is not a random meetup group. Every ride is built around preparation, communication, and responsibility. We use lead rider structure, sweep rider support, pre-ride safety checklists, emergency contact collection, rider waiver completion, and group pace expectations.
Required Rider Checklist
- U.S. Coast Guard-approved life vest
- Working lanyard kill switch
- Full fuel tank
- PWC in safe working condition
- Phone in waterproof case
- Emergency contact submitted
- Weather and ocean conditions reviewed
- Will follow lead and sweep rider instructions
Strongly Recommended
- BoatUS or Sea Tow towing coverage
- PWC insurance
- VHF radio or GPS device
- Extra fuel for longer rides
- Basic first aid kit
- Whistle or sound device
Open Ocean Risks
Open ocean riding can include sudden weather changes, rough water and swell, mechanical failure, fatigue, marine traffic, limited visibility, and emergency response delays.
Rider Responsibility
Each rider is responsible for their own machine, safety gear, passengers, fuel, insurance, and decision-making. Riders must not race, separate from the group, ride reckless, ignore ride leaders, operate under the influence, or endanger others.
Emergency Protocol
If something goes wrong: Stay calm, stay with your PWC if safe, signal the group, notify lead or sweep rider, contact towing or emergency services if needed, and do not leave another rider behind.
Don't Ride Alone. Ride Prepared.
Complete your waiver before attending any Trails to Tides ride.
